Wampum

Wampum is a native term for shells that were worn as adornment and  were also used as currency. Mussel shells were a shellfish abundantly attached to rocks, pilings, driftwood and any other surface it finds along the coastline. This dense cluster of mussel shells made of wood fired porcelain is my currency  as an art object that enriches my life and others and provides me a lively hood.
